Abstract

Timoteo López Pamblanco was a musician born in La Serranía de Valencia. His career as a bandleader and composer developed in this region and others in the Valencian hinterland, making him the epitome of unique cultural identities. Through the application of the postulates of social history and microhistory, this article aims to explain how his life and artistic career ran parallel with the historical evolution of the Spanish State namely, the Burboun Restoration, the Primo de Rivera's dictatorship and the Second Republic, which makes the protagonist a man of his time. To trace this story, we have resorted to archival sources that have come to light for the first time. These are documents that belong to local institutions, from Villar del Arzobispo and Requena, for the most part, as well as to other entities of a regional and state level. Furthermore, and even though a significant part of his compositional inventory has been lost, we have been able to work on the author's manuscript scores dedicated to utilitarian music, which are kept in Chiva.
